Killing Horses for Humans to Eat!

I have a problem with the slaughter of any animal that loves and trusts people. I don't like it when they slaughter former pets who only know people as a source of love and care. However, I don't have a problem with raising horses for food just like I don't have a problem with raising chickens for food

There is nothing wrong with eating horse meat. Do you eat chicken meat? There are thousands of cats and dogs put down in shelters daily, why dont we just use those dead cats and dogs to feed the hungry?

As I said before....the WAY we raiise and kill our animals for slaughter in this country truly upsets me....if you want to raise Flicka on your land and then kiill and eat her, fine, that's your deal, but legalizing horse slaughterhouses makes me SICK...and I STILL don't think they should be for HUMANS to consume. To ME, horses are loving pets and I STILL don't like it. I GET IT, but ii DON'T LIKE IT. I hate how people treat animals and how they get an animal and don't know how to take care of it. Its just like the overbreeding of pittbulls and what happens to theml stupid people raising and breeding these pitts that end up being killed in shelters.

I JUST DON'T LIKE IT. It rubs me the wroong way regardless of all the rational excuses posted. I get it, I just don't like it.

Cause you view horses as nothing more than pets.

Horses only tolerate us cause we feed em.

What I find funny is a lot of people wouldn't eat a horse, but have no problem eating a pig. I always usually have a pig or two around for slaughter, and after all these years, some things a pig does still turns my stomach. But they still are tasty!

This just came up here. A friend of mine purchased a two year old colt at auction for $10. She got him home and found that he had a retained testicle and that he was a dangerous horse. He was probably bought out of a killing pen and resold at a different auction by an unethical horse dealer.
Anyway, the two of us have several conversations about what she should do with the horse. She didn't see any sense in having surgery done on him. He was a $10 investment that she thought could be trained and resold. She has taken in many young horses and trained them for resale. She wasn't planning on bidding on him at all so she hadn't checked him out ahead of time. He was sold as a gelding. She wouldn't send him back through auction for fear that he would hurt someone. He was a biter a kicker and very aggressive.
When she asked if I would try horse meat if she butchered him I said no. But I also don't eat deer, rabbit, goat or anything like that. She was able to line up enough people that would take some horse meat and she butchered him. And yes, SHE butchered him with a little help from family. This woman is amazing...she considers rabbit take out food because they are easy to butcher.
Anyway she got back good reports from the people that took the meat and cooked it. It would have been a waste to shoot the horse and bury it. And it's death was better with a single shot to the head rather than being put on a truck and hauled for days only to be killed anyway. And no one was hurt by this horse.
I am not against horses being used for meat as long as, like any creatures should be, it is put down without a lot of fear or suffering. It just isn't my cup of tea to eat anything that seems out of the norm to me.
