Actually, all men test positive. It's because they have a high level of LH, a hormone which is very similar in structure to hCG (which is the pregnancy hormone).
I'm sorry (or happy!) to say that you are almost certainly pregnant. The dollar store tests work just the same as the expensive grocery store tests - maybe a little LESS sensitive though (so more likely to get a false negative). Don't worry at all about getting pregnant right after stopping birth control. Truthfully, a lot of fertility doctors will put women on birth control pills to HELP them get pregnant. The BC regulates their cycle, and they're more likely to get pregnant when they first go off of it.
Don't worry about your drinking or anything else either - lots of people do that the first few weeks of pregnancy. If it was going to do any harm, it would cause an early miscarriage - NOT birth defects. At this point, formation of the organ systems hasn't really started yet, so there's nothing to be worried about.
So let me be one of the first to say - CONGRATULATIONS
It sounds like you were planning on getting pregnant in a few months, so don't worry about it happening early! Just enjoy it! Good luck!
