I did say em backwards didn't I? WhoopsActually, Australorps have white skin while Jesey's have yellow skin. They both have black shanks of course.

Backwards? Okay, so which is which? Please???!!! If this not-so-little baby has whitish skin (which s/he does,) please tell me I've got an australorp and not a jersey moose ... er ... giant! And what are the chances that I've got a pullet, not a cockerel.I did say em backwards didn't I? Whoops
Yes whitish is Aussie, yellow is jersey. I said em backwards the first timeBackwards? Okay, so which is which? Please???!!! I am used to my tiny Nankins. These large fowl are throwing my whole system off!
This is more stressful than waiting for the 'bator to start poppin'. From here on out, I'm stickin' to my banties!Yes whitish is Aussie, yellow is jersey. I said em backwards the first time
Pretty sure you have a lovely Aussie and are going to get a bunch of beautiful brown eggs (hopefully)This is more stressful than waiting for the 'bator to start poppin'. From here on out, I'm stickin' to my banties!![]()

Thanks! She's a ditz, though. At the risk of being politically incorrect ... I think she's genetically blonde. Either that or she's the ultimate in paranoid. Apparently EVERYTHING eats chickens ... even feed crumbles! She is beautiful.![]()
It doesn't really matter if she's a giant or an aussie. She has a home for life, either with me or my sister. My only concern is that I have very small bantams. A couple of my Nankin hens are only about 20 ounces. I don't want anyone hurt, even accidentally. Still, I have to admit that I'm curious as to what a Nankin/Jersey cross might look like. Black, I'm sure, but size and proportions could be, shall we say ... interesting?I think she absolutely could be a black jersey giant. The white patches on the wings will disappear as she grows if she is. I have two black jersey giant hens. They are friendly, get along with the other 40 chickens and lay nice eggs for me! Take heart, it's not all bad.![]()
