Can you post a few pictures of his cage?
How many roommates does he live with?
His name is Hermès and the eye is better than yesterday and if you look right on the middle of the head you can kinda see the injury.Hi @ModxfirefoxWelcome To BYC
I don't know much about Quail, so hopefully someone like @007Sean or @Texas Kiki can help you more.
You mention there was slimy stuff in his eye, would it be fair to say it could have been pus?
Is he housed with any other Quail?
The head injury I can't see very well, can you get some more photos of that?
It looks like he has new feather growth (pin feathers) coming in on his back - is that the black lines you are talking about? He may have been picked at, but I see more feathers coming in.
We are glad you're here! I hope your quail gets better, does he have a name?
For now it’s this there’s I only have a male for nowWelcome to BYC!

Thank you! The injury is not scabbed yet its kinda slimy by the injury but no blood coming out.He may have injured the eye somehow when he injured his head. I'm sure Kiki and Sean will chime back in, if the eye is watery, then I would flush it with saline a couple of times a day. You can also put some eye ointment in it or use Vetericyn eye gel.
If the wound on the head is scabbed over, I would keep watch on it, you can put a little plain triple antibiotic ointment on it if you wish.
Oh...if the injury is slimy, then you need to clean it. Since it's on the head, I would clean it with saline, generously flush all the slime out, give it a little scrub with a rough wash cloth if you need to until you see normal looking skin. Dry, then apply some triple antibiotic ointment.Thank you! The injury is not scabbed yet its kinda slimy by the injury but no blood coming out.
