I have a female king quail who has had a problem on her foot for some time now. At first, i noticed a small wound, so i soaked it in betadine in hopes that this would prevent infection. However, the toe swelled up and went black, and even the nail has gone black. She seems to be walking around just fine and her behaviour hasnt changed, but i’m worried that this issue wont clear itself up on its own. Any advice?

Black tissue is dead tissue if it really is black then she will loose the toe. You say 'some time now' is that like a month or 3 months? Any idea how the injury occured?
