Kitten flea & tick shampoo on rooster for lice***UPDATE***

Yes, let them sit lathered up and make sure you get plenty around the neck, stay away from the eyes as the critters will try to crawl to the "top of the mountain" to get away from the water.....

thanks so much! I'm trying to avoid the 7 dust because I'll get the DE tomorrow, and I don't want to accidentally harm pets/me/my kids when I don't need to, but thank you for all answers!!!!

Thanks for the replies ya'll.

I gave him a bath and thousands of lice died and came off him. I can't find one on him now and I've looked and looked. So the flea and tick bath worked great. I got my DE and dusted The coop, the places in the yard where they sand bathe and last night all the chickens. Now the weird thing was that I was expecting to find tons on the other birds too, but I couldn't find a single one! Why is that? Why would just one bird come down with such an infestation and not the others?

Now I'm not saying there weren't any, I'm sure there were some that I just didn't see, so everyone got a good dusting, but on him the other day he was majorly infested. By the way, he was very weak but I've since gave him vitamin water and yogurt, oatmeal, scrambled eggs and today he's doing much better. Even fighting me a little not wanting to be touched, which is normal. And thanks to this wonderful forum I knew what to feed him to allow him to recover. Thanks so much ya'll!!!

He may not be weak entirely because of the lice, he may have gotten such a bad infestation because he was weak from some other reason. I would keep a close eye on him.

When my cat got fleas I had bites everywhere. My DH had two. Biting insects just seem to like the taste of one individual more than another.
Your poor rooster must be one of the tasty ones!
