Kitten for Chicken barn? You have one?

This is young Dodger-

Dodger lived with the chickens throughout his kittenhood. He and his brother Fagin lived in the coop with the large fowl for about 3 months until they were big enough for rabies shots and to run free. They lived in and among the chickens until Fagin got hit by a car and Dodger started playing in the street (Fagin was ultimately fine, bu the way). I moved them both in the house because I couldn't handle the stress.

Mostly he just hung out with them-

Every now and then though Dodger crossed the line-

I'm pretty convinced that the chickens really thought that they were just sadly mishapen chickens. They treated them like chicks, including fussing at them when they were misbehaving. It was pretty funny.

Roos kick their butt they get out of line and the duck is boss out there even over the roos....it chases the cat for no reason at all that I know of. The duck is obsessive compulsive with my oldest wiener dog. I will have to get some video of it with my oldest wiener dog. The duck does not hurt her either my dog is its dear friend and follows her everywhere.

i have 7 cats in coop...mornings when doors all open they come & go as they please..at night all get locked inside..too many predtors so for their own protection..have litter box they use... mother cat has had kittens right in nest box even tho i put in box for her..cats protect kittens from pecking hens...kittens will pounce at birds..but by me just telling them no they leave be... but chickens will eat cat food if its out in dishes......a friend would toss any dead chicks and baby rabbits ..and cats would eat them..she had such a problem with her cats eatting her live chicks.....ive never fed dead ones to mine and have never had a problem...another benifit..mine leave song birds alone also.

We had a kitten show up this summer and have raised him in the barn with the chickens. He never bothers the hens and does a good job of rodent control. Comes in the coop everytime the door is open. I put him out before I leave. The seem to cohabit just fine with no problems.

I have 5 outdoor (By their choice) cats. All of the cats were feral kittens before I got them. They all have a high prey drive. Every once in a while I have to dispose of the bodies that they bring me. (

), but I have never seen any problems with the cats and the chickens. I have started with very young kittens for the most part, and they are all expected to handle a home that is fairly chaotic and rather noisy. I must say that my kitties love me, and most of the dogs. lol

Mine get to smell each chick as soon as they are moved to the brooder. The cats will kill and rodent or wild bird that comes around but have never raised a paw at a chicken. They are very respectful of my roo, he likes them in the yard but gets a bit more assertive when they enter the coop.

Outside, the cats seem to watch over their flock.
