Oh ma ga! SO adorable!! What breeds are they?
Never mind... I saw your post! Congratulations! Ima have to look that breed up....
I love this evolution.I looked em up! They are quite interesting! Lovely!
Haha! Thanks!I love this evolution.
I had never heard of them either until a few months ago when some people started talking about them and they sounded AMAZING so I spontaneously ordered them at like 2am.![]()

They had actually mentioned them once or twice before & posted pics and I loved them then too but this was a much more in depth conversation/description of them and they sounded amazing sooooo....
This thread especially sealed the deal.![]()

And then the bantam Cochins were mostly just because the hatchery had a $30 minimum and the Brabanters didn’t quite add up to that and plus the topic of bantams had also come up around the same time (though mostly OEGB but still) so I got them.I also wanted an OEGB roo but decided I couldn’t do that and got these
plus I love the Birchen color and wanted a Birchen Marans or Iowa Blue but since that’s not possible, Cochin it is. Plus I’m hoping they’ll go broody.
Sooooo..... I’ve got my funny looking things which are supposed to be quite personable and great and then I’ve got the little tiny fakers which are also hilarious looking with their feathered feet
Anyway, sorry for the huge novel LOL and thank you!!! I think they are adorable too.![]()
Thanks!! I think so too!!! Only downside is the Cochins are straight run because they didn’t come sexed but that’s okay! Kind of hoping I get at least one male and can maybe have a breeding penHaha! Thanks!
Well they all sound great! I have 3 Cochin bantams... you shouldn’t have a problem with them not going broody!.... two of mine are broody right now! Second time for one of them! But they are darlings!!!! Soooocute and sweet! View attachment 2093929View attachment 2093930View attachment 2093931View attachment 2093932View attachment 2093933View attachment 2093934
And when they aren’t broody.. they are great layers of what I call “scramblers” .... best for scrambling![]()
Oh, well hopefully you’ll get a boy! I actually had a boy too but I gave him to a friend.. I only have hens cuz I knew if I had a roo then I’d hatch, and hatch, and hatchThanks!! I think so too!!! Only downside is the Cochins are straight run because they didn’t come sexed but that’s okay! Kind of hoping I get at least one male and can maybe have a breeding pen![]()
I could have just gotten all Brabanters and they all would have been sexed and then I wouldn’t have had to worry about boys but I really wanted the Cochins/also bantams too![]()
But OMG they are adorable!!!
I’m glad they’re sweet cause mine are mostly pets
And good to hear about them going broody! Or, kind of bad, kind of good!! LOL mostly good cause now that I have the two cockerels, I’ve been hoping to hatch eggs from them!! But didn’t really want to set up the incubator again haha and so far I haven’t had any broodies
Yours are sooooo adorable and pretty!!!![]()
I hope so but at the same time not cause I have 2 boys alreadyOh, well hopefully you’ll get a boy! I actually had a boy too but I gave him to a friend.. I only have hens cuz I knew if I had a roo then I’d hatch, and hatch, and hatch.... and yes, pretty small eggs ... oh, and thank you
....
Btw, .. you seem like the happiest girl in the world![]()
Oh that’s funny.. the dogs get a raw egg everyday.. actually Jovi gets a regular egg and one of the Cochins... and I also give one to Prissy.. our older cat.. and I keep the biggest eggs off to the side to save for Saturday and Sunday when I make my fried eggs! During the week we eat them scrambled.. we eat eggs everyday... but I like the really large ones fried fo sho!!But yeah, the small ones I usually scramble or sometimes fry or I’ll use if I want a tiny bit more egg but not a full egg![]()

And sometimes I’ll feed them back to the girls or give to my brother to give to the dogs lol
