Aww grumpy old dogs are the best! LOL

And awww Tally isn’t ugly! Lol I think she’s beautiful!!

But yes getting wild, crazy dogs to listen can be a bit of a challenge LOL have a friend with a crazy Golden. I shouldn’t say crazy, she is super sweet and a good girl, but just go go go all the time. Never stops. Their other Golden is super chill. Getting through to the crazy one can be a bit of a challenge sometimes LOL

Luckily she LOVES food and LOVEEEEESSSS her ball so that makes it easier :lau

She also loves to work and learn so there’s that haha

And hahaha she’s only saying that cause she probably knows me better than I know myself at this point and knows that I am constantly saying I want or need breeds and at this point it probably is every single breed. :lau

Aww yay!!

Yes she is compared to Keeper!

:lau that is awesome!! Maybe you need to get another horse and start showing! :D

Would love to get another but can’t afford it, especially as I have to keep on a livery yard as I don’t have room at home.

Thanks.. and those are great tips... he is a year and a half now.. and he has changed some because when my hubs first started working with him nothing was working.. I think they take a while to mature..cuz he’s working with him now and it’s so much easier! This’ll be his first year duck hunting so here’s hoping :fl.. we had a Lab that hunted at six months.. so our expectations were high as my hubs knows Labs and how to train them.. which is much different than the Boykin.. so it’s a learning curve..
But I think he’s fine.. he is good like I said so all that energy is just in the breed.. which is channeled good as he is not destructive... I would just like to be able to kiss him at times:lol:
And I only have a fifteen year old at home now... thank the Lord :D... the rest are grown and gone...

Aww that makes total sense!! We’ve always had Labs or Lab mixes too though we did used to have a Golden (I barely remember him haha) so I can see how switching to a different breed would be a bit of a learning curve haha I imagine I will feel much the same way if I ever get an Aussie or other herding breed as opposed to a retriever haha I want an Aussie, English Shepherd, Collie, Golden, Lab, or Boston Terrier LOL all very different dogs or GSD one day haha

Sorry, didn’t mean to turn it to me lol anyway, I totally understand the learning curve bit haha

But I’m glad he’s good now and glad you liked the tips. :)

He seems like a good boy though and I’m glad he’s not destructive! But maybe some of the tips will help him be chill enough long enough for you to kiss him! LOL

But yeah, I think spaniels take a little longer to mature and behave/grow up/chill than even Labs and retrievers and they can take a very long time! LOL so I imagine it’s that much longer with spaniels. Although I have read that a lot of the field bred/hunting/working Labs are smarter and more mature/serious and harder workers than the show Labs. A lot of the show ones I guess can be very slow to mature and goofy. I like that and love goofy dogs but I guess hunting having a dog that takes work seriously would be best lol assuming you had field ones? So maybe you didn’t have many goofy slow maturing Labs and limited experience with it?

And oh that’s good then! LOL but wow they must be pretty old then? Ahah

Awww I’m sorry for your loss. :( :hit :hugs

I need a spaniel one day haha
Thank you... I can’t think about that dog without crying.. it’s sad. He developed that disc disease and was paralyzed in his back legs.. we tried different things and he got a bit better.. still couldn’t walk but managed to get around but he never gained control of his bowels so we had to put him down... it was the hardest thing I had to do... he was only four :(... the sweetest and best dog ever.. always an angel and absolutely gorgeous.... the whole package! I’ll try and find some pics..

I am so sorry! That is so awful! :hit :hugs

Nothing magical, LOL! Must be his breed or love! Yes sometimes I think he does like it but he’s never been a lap dog & just lately is a grumpy old man.

14 is still a good age. One of the yard dogs where I keep the horse had diabetes. Owner found it very hard work managing it but she coped quite well with the shots in the end. Very true on you never know with them.

He’s a sprocker so a springer cross cocker but yes English. Sorry to hear you lost yours. I have found the spaniels so endearing.... especially Keeper as he’s pretty compared to Tally who is a bit of an ugly bug.... very intelligent when their brains are in gear but totally bonkers when they are not!

:th
Thank you... and he was not one of the nutters that’s for sure... pure angel..
And I think yours is darling.. not ugly at all

You got me welling up now :( Sounds just like the decision we had to make with our old terrier bitch. Was absolutely awful and I still can’t let go because she is still in the urn on the shelf in the office :hugs
