That’s awesome. :love

I really somehow didn’t realize you ever had horses lol
I got my first pony when I was 7. I pretty much grew up on the back of a horse. Neighbor girl and I would spend every free minute riding her horses or my pony. It's probably one of the many reasons I have a bad back and hips. I also grew up on a dairy farm. I did a lot of hard farm labor. I milked cows for many years.

My husband and I owned his parents dairy farm for about 9 years before we gave up and got out. Now we have a nice 40 acre hobby farm.

I had always dreamed of doing some English riding and all that went along with it, but it never was to be for me. It was mostly bareback riding here.

My horse was a POA percheron mix. I bred her momma to the neighbors stallion. I had my horse her whole life. I always said I brought her into this world and I'm gonna take her out of it too. I put her down when she was 30. I have owned various ponies besides her but she was my only horse. She was a gentle big soul. A farrier I used to use would ask why am I keeping a fat old useless horse when I could get a good meat price on her. I never called that guy again. I do what I can to make sure I can commit a lifetime to every critter I own.

The boy donkeys are 21, and 22. They aren't spring chickens either. They will be my last equine.

These are some gorgeous horses. :)

Here was mine.

I can imagine how you felt when you had to let her go :(... she was lovely... I longed for horses my whole life but it wasn’t meant to be.. my girl started taking lessons and is no longer.. but is still asking to have one... I just tell her that’s something she’ll have to do as an adult.. we don’t have the ideal setup for it.. and to be honest.. I think chickens are the extent of farming that I can handle
But I sure do envy you

Mines a hunter too. We are country folks here.

Horses are a big commitment many people want but most can't afford to get involved with. The older I get the more I realize how dangerous horses can be as well. As a kid that stuff never occurs to you.

Right! That is a big part of the reason I stopped her lessons... my old lady fears

I agree 100%!!! Except, not the part about the bad back and hips :gig... :hugssorry about your pain oldhen.. getting old really stinks!
I didn't mention the replaced shoulders and knees. Just the stuff that still needs fixing. :lau

The body falling apart stinks, but being more confident and comfortable in my own skin is a good thing that comes with aging. So some stuff is better. :)

Oh my goodness... maybe I should be glad I hadn’t ridden my whole life.. :th

And yes, I know exactly what you mean... but I’m more like... I’m old.. I don’t give a toot what anybody thinks!! :rant.... :gig... but I’m really not that old.. I’m 51... but you really start to look older once you hit fifty and that’s the part I struggle with! I’m so vain ... but I am embracing my gray hair.. I call it my natural highlights
