Kitty and Dog Thread, Show Me What You Got, other critters welcome too

I agree. They are so sweet with grandchildren. We tried to train them but they just do not do well with cats or chickens.
We actually Have chickens because of the boxers. Lol. My husband loves boxers so a few years ago he decided he needed ONE. He bought Sadie (no longer with us) about a year later we got Dexter. My husband decided "they " needed more room to run so we bought a place in the country. Sadie died and along came Ruby. Ruby was not meant to live anywhere with neighbors, she is a Barker. So we bought 5 grown hens and built a house in the country. The flock grew and I was up to 47. I rehomed a couple of dozen and somehow I'm back up to 24.
All the fault of the dogs! It's a nice place to live though. We love the wildlife here.

:bow... oh ma ga! I’m jealous! That first pic :love

My bigger ones got to 8-10 inches long. I've been slowly losing my original batch of 6 that I got back in 2003. I have 1 remaining now. I have a total of 11 single tailed goldfish, and 13 fancy types of various varieties.
That’s funny.. we are both green with envy
Wow.. 10 inches! That’s what I’m kinda afraid of cuz my pond isn’t that big... and I kinda got carried away... I had bought 4 gray goldfish and 10 minnow in addition to the goldies... but those were for the turtles to eat but they did not.. so now I’m slowly catching those and feeding them to the gals.. I also have a black bug eye fish and a fancy calico goldfish.. so not counting the feeders I have about 12 fish.. I think... it’s so hard to try to count them! They are constantly moving!

The second year in my pond mine spawned and I ended up with lots of extras. The next year I eliminated the hiding spots and they are their eggs thankfully. Goldfish are good at reproducing. I like them but not hundreds of them.

Oh my goodness! I’m the same.. I don’t need hundreds! But I really am enjoying them! They are starting to nibble my finger :love

Your goldfish are so tiny, and you budgies are gorgeous. :)
Right!? I was gonna say those fish look tiny in there 😂🤣
Thank you! The goldies are actually growing  ... but the bigger ones are maybe two inches!
OMG!!! :th

I think mine are maybe 6 inches or maybe bigger?? Possibly 7 or 8 now? They move too much to measure. :lau

This is Oliver! He is a chihuahua mix, 8 months old now and just as adorable as he was when he was little. Loves attention more than anything, we saved him from an over-crowded shelter. Unfortunately we got him right before quarentine and he has developed a strong fear of people. He went to the vet for his puppy shots during a time when me and my family were all sick so we couldn’t socialize him, that didn’t go well at all. They had to muzzle him and hold him down, that basically un-socialized him. Now he bites any stranger who he feels threatened by. Quarentine has made it so much worse. We had him with a trainer before but I think it’s gotten to the point where he can‘t be rehabilitated.
Other than that he’s perfect! Him and my older dog get along wonderfully.

I also put some pics of my cat Gracie and the kitten is Penny. Penny was my favorite of all the cats I’ve had, it still hurts to think about her. She was eaten by coyotes before she reached adulthood. The black dog is Kiro, he’s a Great Pyrenees mix. He has lots of energy and was best friends with penny.

This year I became a kitty owner again when my husband brought home an abandoned kitty he found on the road near us. I had lost my last kitty about a year before. My kitties stay outside. Probably not ideal but they live a good life.

Stinky kitty is so named because she sure can stinky up that litter box. I could have named her Snotty as well because of that respiratory infection she came with. Apparently it's hard to get rid of too as it lingers despite multiple antibiotic shots.

I have come to like my Stinky

I would love to see others kitties and hear their stories. I have owned a few kitties over my life and remember each one. So please share your kitties. :)
I've had several cats in my past. The first one I remember clearly is my personal cat. AThe long furred female called smokey. She ran away when I was aborn child. After that I fot aknow long furred calico I called spot, again as a kid. But we moved and had to get rid of all our cats, except the fat one called trouble. After that we only had trouble until we got our next two cats, sweetpea (she rarely was sweet and never liked using thw litterbox either :(), and a new smokey, then sweetpea and smokey had kittens wich gave me midnight (making a total of four cats) then sweetpea ran away :( and we only had trouble, midnight and smokey. But then only aa few years ago, trouble died of old age.

During that time we also had several other animals. We had mitchel and lady, two pekinese. We got had to rehome mitchel for family reasons but then we got bear, a pomeranian. They mates and had our dog pumpkin (miss her greatly each day, may she always be loved.) But unfortunately we moved again and couldn't keep all our dogs so they were rehomed, except pumpkin. But then a few months before trouble died, she died at the age of 20 human yrs. Before she died we got three rescue dogs. Our amazing dog lawson, the patient misty, and my loud mouthed luther. When we were young, we also had a cockateel. Don't know what happened to sunshine thpugh. It was only years after we got luther that we got a parrot. But he was kid aggrassive so we had to get rid of coco. After that we got two parakeets, but one got sick and died, the other died of sadness because of that. And we had also gotten a green fancy faced conure that I happily named pepper. We also have several fish

Any dog can be rehabilitated!! Or at least the vast majority of them. Just might take a little more time now. But he’s young still so it’s still possible. Especially since his seems to be more fear based rather than true aggression or whatever. I think increasing his confidence will help a lot too. There’s lots of activities to help with that. Scent games/nose work, agility, trick training, etc. and lots of other stuff. And slowly increasing his exposure to strangers, even if you have to start from a very far distance where he doesn’t react and slowly move forward. Treats/reward when he’s calm or have people toss him treats from a distance. High value stuff like meat or cheese. It is possible but will definitely be work. I’ve known reactive and fearful dogs much older than him that have gotten better or at least made improvements but it does take determination and management to prevent him from going backwards on his progress while you’re rehabbing him. Keeping him out of certain situations unless you can take the time to train/actively work on it, etc.

And the pictures didn’t attach for some reason. :( but I bet he’s cute!! Good luck with him!!

No problem!! And if you need any more info or help or anything, let me know. I’m not a trainer but I love training and want to be one so I’ve read a lot of books/articles and watched a lot of videos, researched etc. on all sorts of stuff haha there’s a lot of good resources online and several good books too. Also a lot of trainers are offering online consultations since most can’t train in person atm. That might be something to look into. He looks very young still too so there’s definitely hope!! Are you sure he’s 8 months? And yes the pictures did finally load along with your other animals too!! They’re all so adorable. :love is the other one Lab/Border Collie?
