I remember my Mom having the same thing. She didn't think the ibuprofen was doing that much......until she couldn't take it pre-op. She had to go on Vicodin before surgery, it was kind of ironic.

Thanks, I have considered calling for something extra. It doesn't bother me as much if I stay sitting, so I am taking breaks between everything, I have stuff to get done, but it's going to take all day. Ibuprofen is really great stuff, I just didn't know how great it was. One more day. Thank you for listening to my complaining.

Will lift you up in prayer for an uneventful surgery and post op course. Speaking from my position, I want to encourage you to avail yourself of the pain med. Know how often you can have it, and if possible get your therapy scheduled at a routine time, and have the therapist coordinate with you or your med nurse to be sure you are medicated before therapy. It will get you home much faster.

Thank you, my therapy is already set up, and after attending their replacement class I can see that they really get in there and make sure all the basis are covered to the point of having a mock up kitchen and bathroom to show patients how to do everything. They will hand out kits with a sock assist gadget for putting on your socks, and a grabber for pulling up your pants.

They have recently created a new area to do the ambulatory surgery, and recovery. Private rooms, great food, and lots of help. Way different from when I had my shoulders replaced.

They won't release you until you can do certain things by yourself.

I can't wait for pain medication. I can't imagine it will be much worse than it is now, though I know it will be.

I really thank everyone for their encouragement and support, and advice. At this point I can't imagine why I had troubles making this decision.

Thinking of you today.

I came home today at about 6 pm. I'm a bit fuzzy from the pain pills, I get to crying pretty bad if the pills wear off, the nerve block is wearing off too. I almost pasted out on the way out and had to return to my room for a while. The incision is longer than I expected. They also said some of the bone looked brittle, so they sent some off for testing, they said chemo can cause that so I hope that's all it is. I could do therapy easily, but now my leg is a bit sore, hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Thank you everyone, this is harder than I expected, but hopefully it gets better quick.

Thanks for updating us. Get some rest, and remember---Drugs Are Good!

And yep, chemo = brittle bones in a lot of cases. Don't stress that, just eat lot of ice cream
