Knee Replacement? Please share your experiences.

I think this will be my last update. I have one more therapy appointment. I am doing well with bending and straightening and am walking without any assistance. There's still some swelling and of course it's very stiff and heavy yet. I am working at building up my strength again so I can walk a mile or two a day again. At this point it is just time, and to wait for it to finish healing. When I had my shoulders replaced it took 6-12 months before I felt right again so I expect the same for my knee. I wasn't sure for a while, but now I know I can do this and it will work out for the better in the end.

I want to thank everyone for their help, and encouragement, as well as letting me know what to expect. I will eventually get my other knee replaced, perhaps next fall. I will know what to expect now. I have appreciated everyone sticking with me. Thank you.

Well, it's been quite the ride, hasn't it? Glad you're doing better. Just keep going with the exercises, don't let any of your range of motion slide or you'll lose it down the road.

She's still stiff. I'm still plugging away at my stretches and exercises daily. It still has some swelling in it above the knee cap, as well as being numb. Feeling is slowly returning to the left side of my leg. It feels creepy when it is touched. They cut a nerve which causes the numbness. They said that they also split the thigh muscle during surgery which is why that hurts. I can sleep on my side part of the night, but it feels really heavy when I move it.

The pain I have felt in it for two plus years is gone. It is amazing not to feel that anymore, as I thought that was how life was going to be like forever. I have now reached the point where I am thankful I did it.
