Know Any Good Hatcheries For Rare Chickens?

Also I found one called Meyer's Hatchery (Ohio one). Has a lot of what I'm looking for but most are out of stock. Anyone ever used this before?

If I'm ordering from an online place I go thru chickens for backyards. I can get fewer chicks if I want without having to meet a 15 or higher minimum. Just got 7 silkies from them Friday. I ordered 5 so the extra 2 were a lovely surprise. All are eating and drinking and extremely active in the brood box .

Sounds like a good hatchery. I'll check it out. Thanks!

these are all 7 of the silkies. It's always nice to see 'real' pics vs pics hatcheries choose to show you. They will just be pets as we don't breed or show and I'm very pleased with what I received. Good luck!!

Also, I'm looking for a breed of brown egg laying chickens with really sweet (Possibly protective) Roosters. I was thinking Orpingtons or Jersey Giant roos, but I'm afraid the JG will crush the hens :p. Any docile rooster recommendations
I would suggest Australorps. I haven’t owned an Australorp roo myself but I would assume most of them would conform to breed standards.

I'm also very happy with Cackle; we just had 41 healthy chicks arrive last week, , have ordered from them before, and had excellent results every time.
Some breeds might be sold out now, but their birds are very nice, and the surprise box should be fun!
Mary
