We love houdans! I don't have one for sale, I just wanted to comment because they are one of my favorites. We had a houdan pullet that died from IC, and she was my two year old daughters beloved pet. We still miss her a lot. We're planning on ordering houdan chicks for Easter to put her in Easter basket, I can't wait.

Apparently, everyone does!!! Ive heard they are the sweetest chickens.

Oh, how sad! Im so sorry for your loss.

Really? Which Hatchery are you ordering from? I thought about ordering Some mottled houdan and buff laced polish pullets from Murray McMurray, but you have to have a breed minimum of 5!!!

They're here and they're so cute! Let me know if you think you'd like a couple...I'll post pics when I have a chance.

Where are you located again? I think it's is in the Ky thread but I'm too lazy to check that far back.

I'm in far eastern Ky but I travel to Lexington often.

??????? IM LOST

I was asking because you said your hens were laying eggs, So I thought you might know the answer to my question.

My 2 hens might be laying, Im not sure, but I have found some really big eggs in the chicken coop. If a chicken laid that, Ouch!

LOL Oh ok that went over my head sorry. Turkey hens usually lay the spring after they are hatched.

I haven't figured out where to order them from yet. The last one I had, my daughter's pet, came from Ideal. I bought her along with some polish not realizing she was a houdan from someone in Danville who'd ordered a big group of the crested special, and we totally fell in love with her. I was thinking about ordering some more from Ideal in the spring. I signed up to be notified when they are posting new hatch dates. Since we live in a suburb I can't keep roosters and I only will have space for a couple houdan pullets in my flock, I thought I would either find people to split an order with or just order a bunch and sell them later. (Easier said than done since I have this horrible issue where I get attached to all my chicks...heh.)

There's also that Connie lady in Versailles that I'm considering buying from. After my last experience with buying sick birds though, I'm terrified it will happen again. I'd rather order from Ideal unless I'm sharing birds with a friend or getting them from someone who is certified disease free.

Keeping us bumped at the top....

I'm looking for Midget White Turkeys... I know this is under the chicks buy/sell but it does day KY traders....
