I think I posted this already, but just in case

I will be looking for some blue/black/splash LF cochin hens/pullets as well as some welsummer or EE pullets in a few months. I don't have the $$ for them right now, but I will in a month or so

I would also be interested in a feather-legged black copper marans rooster, since the one chick I hatched is a pullet. If I can't find one, I'll either put her with a welsummer roo or just keep her with the egg-laying leghorns.

Shelley..I have Blue, Black and Splash. If all goes well I will have lots of them available. I found two white hens that will be coming next week so I will be able to make some more splash as well. I am also looking for a white Roo.

Meri can tell you how nice my Cochins are.

I'm really looking for some that are true blues, I don't think 'making' splash from whites would qualify. There would be too many variables in that.

This is a Blue Splash hen..made using a White hen...that's how you get them. This picture doesn't do her justice..she is gorgeous!

Spidertoys -- where were you this summer when I had my royal palms???? I got rid of all of them because I couldn't find a tom for the girls....

I'm gonna order some whit midgets come spring.... I really want to taste them... all the posts on here say they're the best tasting.... and with only 4 of us eating Turkey, a small bird suits us just fine.....

Got my silkies from Chuck yesterday.... OMG they're soooo pretty..... Turned out to be 10 girls and 3 boys.... so now I have 5 roos for the silkies..... I hope they don't fight over the girls.....

They did well in the coop last night so today they'll get to go out with the flock.... Might be time to let Mrs. Turbo's "babies" loose too... they're so big and quite pretty.... I really don't like keeping water in the coop... besides they keep filling the waterer with shavings... silly birds....

Splash is the pure form of blue. You might get a bird that looks splash by using whites, but the 'right' way to get splashes is by breeding splash to splash. Another way is by breeding blue to blue, a percentage of the chicks will be splash. You can also breed black to splash, and all the chicks will be blue. This is a test to tell if your splash is a true splash.

I've had a lot of blue chickens, I know how the blue genetics work very well

Not in Cochins..look it up. Blue splash or Black splash..both white backgrounds. If you breed Blue to Blue..you get Blue...not Blue Splash.

If you don't like them that's fine..but they are what they are..and they are correct. I never have any problem selling them.

Are we talking about Blue as in Andalusian Blue, or as in Self Blue (which is actually the Lavender gene)? Andalusian blue bred to blue will result in:

50% Blue, 25% Black and 25% Splash

But if you're talking Lav (sometimes referred to as Self Blue) then Lav x Lav = Lav.
