I thought I would share these with you guys..there are 18 Naked Neck babies and 4 Black Cochin babies. They are spending their first day in the barn with the big birds.

It's my experience with Cochins that they carry the Andalusian Blue gene.

I only have one of my black girls laying right now.I wish the rest were. But I hatched a few of the black ones. They are spending their first day in the barn with their baby Naked Neck friends. My blue girls seem to have gone on strike..for now anyway.

If you don't like them that's fine..but they are what they are..and they are correct. I never have any problem selling them.

I'm not sure of the 'exact' lettering used for it, but blue is Bl-bl. Splash is Bl-Bl, so splash to splash = splash. Blue to splash would equal 50% blue and 50% splash (Bl-bl to Bl-Bl=50% Bl-Bl, 50% Bl-bl). Blue to blue (Bl-bl to Bl-bl) would get a 25% Bl-Bl (splash), 50% Bl-bl (blue), and 25% black (bl-bl). If it is blue, and not self-blue aka lavender, this is how it works. The only reason it might work with white is because white is often a cover for other colors, usually black.
I have a lot of splash and blue, made from breeding splash to splash or blue or black. Splash to black would get you 100% blue chicks Bl-Bl to bl-bl=Bl-bl).

They do, actually both depending on which one you are looking for.

ETA: Not meaning to start a fight, but getting birds that look blue opposed to birds that are genetically blue is not what I'm looking for. I want some that will breed blue black or splash if bred with a blue black or splash mate. Birds bred from white might, but they also might not.

Hey Shelley -- I'm going to order White Midget Turkeys and Cuckoo Marans from McMurray's.... The WMT are not available until mid-March and I hope to get the CMs in Feb....

Chuck gave me silkies and I had 1 black silkie and 1 show girl both roos... Out of the 13 Chuck gave me there were 3 roos.... I don't think 10 girls need 5 roos so if anyone wants some they are welcome to some roos....

I do have a banty roo (not sure what he is but he's a firecracker)... he'll take on anything that messes with his girls.... I'd like for him to go....
