Hi Shelly,

Yes, I am the D3 Director of the ADBS, and am familiar with that list.

But at this point in time, to my knowledge, there are no purebred Blue Dutch in the US. Any that are here definitely have OEG blood in them, and/or Rosecomb blood.

Although, that being said, a pair of CLB/BCLB birds I sold to a friend last year seems to have sported out a blue (we discussed in here in the Genetics section several weeks ago), but the jury is still out on those, waiting to see how some of her chicks grow up.

There's a breeder in NC who has Blues, but AFAIK they do have OEG blood in them. And of course Ideal sells all sorts of colors of birds that they claim are "Dutch" but which do not resemble Dutch in any way shape or form. Don't mean to seem touchy about it, but for those of us who breed Holland Dutch, once you add OEG into the mix, you never get it out, and IMO it ruins type for good (even if you don't see it in the F1s, you'll have it come back to haunt you down the line.)

Cheers,

Okay, well thanks for that. The 2 girls I have don't look like OEGB, but you never know. Maybe if you can make it to the chickenstock, you can look at them and tell me what you think?

I am in northern KY, about an hour south of Cinn. I would like to come, but don't know for sure what my schedule would be. I have to share my car with my teenagers, and the truck with my husband, so it's a juggling act to be able to leave the farm at all!

Well, I have a plan if you or any other fam members with you REALLY want to go to it. How far are you from Mt vernon exit on hwy 75? We have a big conversion van... You could have someone bring you to the Mt vernon exit, we could meet there for pick up and drop off. And I'll take you back and forth from mt vernon.

Very gracious offer! We're actually south of Mt. Vernon, outside of Williamstown. Still trying to determine my schedule, but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!

I just looked at pics of a Blue Andalusian - very pretty birds.

Hmmm, not sure hubby will let me get more - since he decided he wants to keep some of those I wanted to get rid of.
