La Fleche Thread ~ PIC of my Black La Fleche

Hi Illia

Looking at how they are feathering out it looks like I will have around 10 males and 10 females. I had posted in a earlier theard there were no single combs. Well I was a little wrong there combs are getting more noticeable and there is no single combs but there are 2 of them that has what looks to be a divided single comb ( somewhat close to a Buttercup comb ). Out of 20 only 2 with bad combs is not to bad. My brother has already ask me could he have them to add with his mix flock of odd chickens. So as of right now it looks like I will have 9 males to pick from. The best 2 males will be in the breeding pens.

Hi All

I was looking at some of my earlier post in this thread and I noticed I hit the nail on the head with the male / female count at the time they were only 1 week old. I ended up with 10 females but I only have 8 now as I culled 2 of them ( 1 was a runt & 1 had a bad comb ).

I meant mean to people.

The ones I had were flighty and would attack (the roosters that is) when I went to get eggs, feed or water...

The only rooster I've had that was mean to us was a polish-rooster. He would attack us all constantly (me, the kids, any visitors). That seemed strange since I'd read that polish chickens were supposed to be docile. So far so good on all our other roosters. I think we've just been lucky!! I've heard awful stories from friends who've had chickens. Some people won't even believe me that we have several roosters that lay in our arms sleeping like a baby.

Just wondering how your birds are doing. I found this video and I had to share. I do not know if you have seen it. I just love when he opens the door.
