Labor day and my first egg!

I Know, Right!!
First eggs can often be softshelled.

A coop full or pullets is a great time to start doing butt checks.

In the beginning yes its common. What feed are you giving them and are you providing oyster shells?
I was giving them organic starter crumbles and last week I started trying the organic layer pellets which they did not seem to like. I am now giving them organic layer grain mix, which they seem to love! So that will be what they will be eating in the future. They free range about four hours a day in my organic garden eating various greens and fruit and I gave them treats of sunflower seed‘s, meal worms, watermelon, bread and corn. I have been giving them oyster shell for the past week, but they don’t really seem to eat that too much. They peck at it every once in a while.

Then you should be fine.

Thanks, I did a butt check yesterday because the other chickens seem to be looking at her butt, her butt area seemed like maybe it had a little poop or something at the top of her feathers,so I gave her a bath. I did notice her vent looked really big and her hip bone seemed a little spread apart, so maybe it was her that laid the egg, even though that is not the spot where she usually sleeps. Actually the day before I posted a picture of her and asked the members if they noticed that something looked wrong with her. I thought she look like she had a big hump on her back and she seemed really quiet that evening.

Looks like her feathers are raised.
The can act really weird when a softie is moving down the pike.
Is she still looking like this?
No, she looks more back to normal now. The soft eggshell was weird because it almost looked like it had yolk on it, but the yolk she laid was not broken. I was sort of worried.

I actually just noticed that there was no shell because I saved the egg and was looking at it today. It was just more like a thick membrane with no shell.

That's what 'softshell' is...yolk, albumen, and membrane with no calcium(shell) applied.
Here's a great video showing how an egg is formed:
