I'm stumped! These combs are giving me a hard time. 6 weeks plus 3 or four days, EEs to the best of my knowledge. A lady I got the eggs from said she let her lavender EE run with her Ameraucana, dark brahmas, maran and double laced barnevelder hens hoping to introduce some lavender into her chicks, but I only had very blue eggs hatch. Anyway. I appreciate the assistance as always, I'm in no rush to send anyone packing so if they're too young to get a good idea of male of female, well, I've got time. They were super uncooperative about the photoshoot, out of the hundredor so pics, these were the best I could do for the moment. (Names are still in flux)

"Little Jerk"
Only straight comb in the bunch. Complete jerk. Bitey.

Little Sir is my only 98%er. Crossing my fingers he stays docile for me. What do the experts think about the Jerk? Should I be seeing more pink by now? Or within the next two weeks? It was so much easier when I had comparable babies! I should only have straight and pea combs in this bunch, so my fingers are crossed on the other 3 littles, I really want to see the full colours on the pale ones... I'm positively jealous of some of the white feathered EE beauties I've seen around here!

For now I don't see anything obviously male. If its comb starts turning really red here in the next few weeks let us know.

Do you have updated pictures?

Sure do! They haven't changed much other than doubling in size!

8weeks

10weeks (still have the second white girl, she's just sneaking herself in between the big girls these days)

So I lost one of my little EE pullets at the tender age of 20 weeks. The Jerk somehow got one of her legs broken, and although I did my best for her, it wasn't a break she was going to recover well from and I had to make the decision to cull.

I'm going to need to grab update pics for everyone else, there's one left I'm wondering about, the second white (not my sickle feather panic girl, her look alike). I'm 97% sure the dark blue chick is a pullet,100% little Sir is still a little gentleman and (thanks to the folks here for calming my fluttery heart) I'm fair confident now Muffy still wants to lay eggs... But that other white is baffling. Very few tail feathers and the smallest of them all so she looks pretty funny on long stilty legs. She seems so much younger than the others, the only one who still communicates souly with baby chirps but her comb finally pinked up over the last few days and the only red comb in the bunch is on her brother.

I also found a tiny dark brown fairy egg in the nestbox this morning. I really hope it belongs to one of my older girls having a bit of a hiccup and not one of my EE babies, I'll have to get my camera set up again.

Muffy at 21 weeks. Pics of the rest to follow!
