The staircase continued on for a while, and some of them began to wonder when it was going to end. Then, they had reached the top. FanDance knocked yet another rock over, revealing a large oasis area. Two trees were sitting on the edge, one having a great horned owl sitting in it and in the other a red tailed hawk. On the far right, was a waterfall, though it could not be reached. A small pond, with large grimey bricks surrounding it obviously leading to somewhere sat in the middle. Grass and flowers covered the ground, overlooking a desert with the bright moonlight in the sky and shining down on everything. Falling off was certain death as it was a few hundred miles down.
They sucked in a breath as they avoided looking at how far they could fall.
Kate led him out of the small den into the larger room where most of the team was gathered. Most were talking quietly, but turned to look at him and Kate when they came out of the den.
"All of you, under the trees." FanDance ordered. "And sleep."
The owllet turned to the eaglet. "We can't fall asleep!" The owl whispered urgently. "I think they're trying to moon-burn us!"
"You heard what the wolf said! If we don't do what she says, they'll kill us!" the eaglet answered, whispering as he walked to a tree to sleep.
"They're trying to moon burn us!" The owllet whispered, still urgent. "They're going to erase all of our memories of our parents so that we'll be easier for them to use!"
"Do you want to remember being abandoned?" The eaglet hissed at the owlet.
