Landrace, Rooster?

If one was to try to make a landrace chicken breed... how does one control the rooster problem?

See the goal would be to let them adapt, right? BUT If you limit them to say one rooster, does it not stagnate the results? Causing a bottle neck on the male side?

How does one balance these issues? Do you just not separate them; let them fight it out and deal with the chaos that brings?

Haha oh good! The landrace discussion is way more fun. Nature is still culling things but it’s to be expected. I want to get to the point I can bravely free range and let my chickens breed indiscriminately lol but after dipping into that thread I don’t think the birds I have currently are designed for that. Someday though!

I'm no expert but I'd say only keep the best few roos that have the best survival characteristics.
