Langshan Thread!!!

*Sigh*

Had 4 eggs due to hatch today. Wound up only two hatched. When the electricity cut out a day before hatch..I had a feeling. Ah well. 1 beautiful dark blue chick and a mutt.

Got another 2 dozen getting ready to go into the incubator and this will be my last hatch of the year as I am moving in June and want all birds to be feathered in.

SO...I'm debating on offering some hatching eggs.

Would anyone be interested?

The pen I would be hatching from would be a blue male over 2 black females and 1 blue female. The male seems to only throw blues when bred to black females. No idea why?

Anyway...it would be $40 including shipping for a dozen. Excellent fertility with him, which is why I'd only offer eggs from his pen.

Apparently I need to get rid of some birds as well... So I am offering up some pairs. Blue cock with a white hen. You will be able to get possible blacks and blues from the pairing as well as have the chicks be carriers of white. Also have a white cock that can be paired with either a black or blue pullet.

I take into consideration interest and hobbies when pricing so let me know what your intent is with them and I'll price accordingly. Each of these birds are from show quality stock however the males cannot be shown and win due to frostbite to the comb and wattles.

Well if that just doesn't figure.

I did a blue x blue breeding. For sure I'd get a blue or something like that. Nope. I get an AWESOME little black pullet! ha! When it was wet it looked really dark blue, now I know it's for sure a black.

Anyone else hatching anything? I know there are lurkers so I'm not entirely talking to myself!

I did hatch some japanese bantams! I think i have two roos for sure already at a week and a half as they are doing the roo dance and challenging each other already! But Langshans - sigh - no

I just found out about Langshans but now I'd like some. However I don't have an incubator and I don't have a broody hen. I've only got 6 wk old chicks. Maybe once I see if I do get a broody hen I will get some Langshans! It is kind of hard to find many people (local) who sell the chicks or hatching eggs.

I have loved going through this thread! Very awesome birds. I was the secretary for a short period of time for the new National Langshan club. I sent everything to the new President and that was all I ever heard from him. He pocketed the cash, member list, and materials!! I wish the club or a club would be active again. This is such a beautiful breed and they need representation! Anyways, I'm looking for some eggs to get back into them, anyone close to Ohio?

I believe the Langshan Club has started back up. Someone took over for Forrest when he became ill. I believe his name is Michael House? I could definitely be wrong in that thought!

Do you remember which lines you had from years ago?
