Thanks, BGMatt! I was pretty sure it would be a no on the boy. None of the roos/cockerels that I currently have would help with her tail. I am still hoping to get some chicks and/or eggs from the breeder in AZ. The birds of his that I saw in Stockton last year had such nice U shaped tails. I am trying to be patient but I feel like I am a year behind in getting started. Of all the chicks that I hatched and raised from 4 different sources, I have narrowed it down to 3 roos but I'm not really happy with any of them. Perhaps Thor will keep developing and take their place. And of the 5 or 6 hens that I have, only 1 or 2 are really okay for breeding. I need to take some pics of the big black hen that came from eggs from Mikaela. She is my choice of all my hens but I should probably run her by those of you who know more than I do. Should I be searching for more eggs from breeders or just start with what I have and cull hard each year? The pullet, I think my biggest concerns are low tail angle and it's a pinched tail. If you kept her for breeding, make sure the male compensates those areas.
The cockerel, I actually like his body, and leg length. His tail will come around, but he holds it so tightly I'd consider him an inappropriate match for this pullet. The long back will disappear when his hackles fill out and his tail finishes.
On tails when viewed from behind a nice wide tent is good to see, but even better is an inverted "U" shape, a nice wide arch.
