Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

Well I guess it's more than 6 eggs since I have three broodies taking up all the next box space. Turken and cochin not so much a surprise, but the barred rock is a surprise. First one I have ever had go broody!!!

Quote:
Current broodies I have are 3 OEGB, 1 Serama, 1 Bantam cochin, the new hen (no idea what she's supposed to be

), 2 rouen ducks, 1 pekin duck, 1 runner duck, and 1 embden goose. Then I have 2 pigoen pairs with nests and one of my ringneck pairs are nesting again.

Oh, then I have an OEG with 9 chicks and another with 5 chicks. I have another OEG that just left her 4 chicks, and an OEGB that just left her 1 chick, and 2 silkie/cochin hens that just left their 5 (raised together) chicks. Babies all over the place this year

I'm doing my 10 day candle on Wednesday evening.

An egg broke under her somehow and they are all gunky... if none are developing, I'll head to Western Ranchman and buy a couple.. Like I need chicks... ARGH!

I candled last night and tossed a bunch, but I locked down 7 buff bantam Faverolles and 4 Seramas. Still have 9 Seramas that will lock down on the 14th, 5 bantam Favs and 1 bantam Ameraucana that will lock down on the 16th.

And THEN I added 30 LF Faverolles eggs, 20 bantam Faverolles, and 3 bantam Ameraucana eggs to the bator....just when it was getting cleared out, back to stacking in the 1588!!!

I had one bantam egg (out of 6!) from the April egg swap that developed. Today he hatched! I am trying to find out from my swap partner what he is-I am thinking OEGB, but not sure. I put him in the brooder with my quail that hatched Wednesday. I LOVE my new Brinsea!!!

Rouen duck #3 is now missing...wonder where her nest is? The other 2 are broody so it's safe to assume that's what has happened to this one too. I've also got another broody chicken hen but she's decided to share a nest with an already-broody hen, so no new eggs for her. Good grief, finally start getting eggs and they want to set on them! Most of my games are laying in the woods or fields somewhere so I'm sure I'll have some of them wandering back with chicks before too long

Just updating, 'somehow' yesterday a dozen eggs found their way into my 'bator. Don't know how that happened...

They are from Red Sex Links and an unknown rooster. Hoping for some pullets this time. Of the 16 I hatched before, now 8wo, looks like only 1 pullet!

I need some more egg layers and I'm going to pop them in the EE pen, I want some of those pretty green eggs I see on here.
