Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

Quote:
Ducks sell pretty good here, especially baby ducks. I sold some 6 week old silkies today for $3 each but I could get that for a day-old duckling. People want chicks here, they just want them for nothing.

And then I have people like my dad 'helping' me...gave away a $2 file box with the sale of a $5 turkey poult

ARGHHH!!! No helping allowed!!! I get $2 for chicks of an average nature and $8 for ducklings of any breed. Other breeds of chicks, I sell more hatching eggs for them than anything.

Send me your address so I can ship these ducklings to you...even with cost of shipping I'd still make out like a bandit at those prices!

OHH BOY.. the hatching bug bit me HARD! I didn't even have any chickens but hatched my first batch 3/17. (25/30 hatched and still have 7 from that batch) Second hatch was this past weekend 4/30 (Lt. Brahma's and BLRW) and the third batch was delivered the same day.

I currently have 41 EE and D'Uccle eggs in the 1620 with another group coming to add this week.

Still have to do the run.

So.. to someone who is new to chickens... where the heck is the cure for the hatching obsession?!

I have no idea why ducks are so valuable here. We have a high Asian population, but that is about it. The rest are rednecks/tweekers/cowboys.

Leaving town and I never submit pics for the contests, but I like this one, so here's my first pic.

Just wanted to make sure I got one in.

Tazcat I won't be here to make sure you get the eggs by tomorrow. Long story why it should be tomorrow, but instead I'll just let you know I managed to get a few extras in there for you.

I just looked at the calendar, and realized my turkey eggs are due very soon. I should lock those puppies down!

ALSO-- did you all hear the Valley hit a new record this week? Not from the heat, which has been ~99 degrees. OH NO... Phoenix hit a record low in HUMIDITY. One day was measured at 2%.

I cannot even imagine! I've lived on the east coast all my life and have not traveled further west than Michigan.

It's been 60+% humidity here this week. When I drive to work, the fog is rising off the mountains. You can still lose a shoe to the mud in the yard!

And 99?? Wow. I am living dangerously here, just put my pumpkin seedlings out in the garden this morning. We're supposed to have highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s for the next 10 days. But my seedlings could not wait. They look awful now, transplant shock. Hopefully they'll make it.
