Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

Wow, what a lovely collection! I'd like to try peas but my DH says nothing new until I get the turkeys under control. (which means get them to stop attacking him)

I'm just wondering...what do you all do with all the chickens you hatch? I just wonder how you have room to hatch out so many?!?!

I'm running into that too.. I am on my 3rd hatch and waiting for more eggs and I haven't even sold any of the babies from my second. I posted on CL and my FB etc but nothing.. ideas??

Hatch them sell them eat them.....if all else fails I take them to the auction. Sometimes the feed store takes them I trade them for chicken feed and equipment. CL is my friend as right now I'm trying very hard to not have very many around for my DH to take care of when I'm gone for a week....but I hatch every week so my incubators are getting empty when I get home I can fill them up again.

I feed 'em, love 'em, name 'em, and have been able to give a few away. Which was tough for me, but they went to BYCers I know, so it's not like they really went bye-bye. I also sold some to a gal employee at my favorite feed store, because the feed store does not sell Cochins and I had just hatched some... Later, I sold her a dozen fertile mutt eggs from my flock because she had four broody hens and no rooster. (11 of the 12 hatched and she says her broodies are so HAPPY being moms!)

I live on an acre, but I rent the "back" house and my land-lady lives in the front house. She balked at ducks. Now I'm in the middle of buying a small house on just under two-thirds of an acre. My flock of chickens and <*shhhhh! secret!*> ducklings is going to be living there with me fairly soon.

And they range freely, too. That keeps 'em really happy.
