Well, I thought the current hatch in my incubator was my last hatch this spring,

but..... Well my neighbor being the fellow chicken addict bought us 2 dozen eggs at a swap today for me to incubate. Without checking to see if I had room in my incubator, and I don't, because its full. So now my hubby and I am trying to build a second incubator just like and slightly bigger than my current one. Well then my husband accidently ran the drill bit into his finger, so we ended up in the urgent care center, and my bigger incubator is on hold for a bit. I felt so bad!! Poor guy! But there seems to be another batch of Ameraucanas and a batch of Olive Eggs in my very near future.

7 eggs under one broody, but the other broody just looks like she needs a few too. Maybe some bantam eggs from the neighbor? We don't have any of those - YET.

Ok great news!!! I candled and half at least half that look like they're developing! A few posts back someone posted a picture of the candled egg and described it as loose...many of mine look like this too.

But I did see an embryo move for the first time. And I have to say...its a very disconcerting feeling watching the air cell move around and jiggle when you're candling a live egg.

I did remove a weeper...didn't smell like the non-weepers I've pulled but I'm not risking it. The others i've pulled definitely stunk. The weepy stuff was dried and on some other eggs, hope it didn't kill them. I'm just beyond thrilled my eggs are doing ok after all.

Sebastopols are geese. And geese can be nasty ok, I had them when I was a child and they were vicious. Embdens, I think they were. Ducks are harmless!

Sebastopol geese are rather gentle, I got these from a from friend. Her flock of 12 are super friendly !!!
These babies are being handraised in our home and follows us around and snuggle on our laps etc....
