I am bad at candling, ChestnutRidge, but I kept everything that had even a vague darkish-look inside. By day 18, I ended out keeping some in that I originally thought were not developing, and they went on to hatch, so don't give up on them yet.
I don't know the effect x-raying has. I got shipped eggs from California, 3000 miles away, and they were only marked "fragile". In fact, when I joked to the postman as I picked them up at the post office that the shipper was worried that the package might "sit in a hot truck all day" (it was snowing lightly), he said, "what's in there?" It seems like they must have been x-rayed at some point, I don't know. I had 10 of 13 hatch, with one that died after the fact. Have you heard exactly what happens if they are x-rayed? I'm curious.
just2rosey: I can relate to the "drilled finger" here. DH has had stapled, biscuited, nail-gun, etc., various fingers. The worst was the table saw, - lost the tip in that one. Hope he heals up soon!
