My broodies are confusing me, I sure hope everyone has the eggs they are supposed to have! I try to make sure to pull new eggs daily since they are all in the 'favorite' nests but who knows if I missed one.

2 bourbon red turkeys and a gosling are rolling around in the bator today, 12 pheasants are due tomorrow!

ETA: I wish they made muzzles for hens cause some of mine could sure use them. My hen Gertie doesn't bite very hard but she is sneaky. She'll gently peck you then twist as hard as she can...little heifer!

My silkie broody was a nice broody until her eggs hatched. Now she is evil! Attacking anything that comes close to her or her babies.

I've still got 4 broodies on eggs. Yesterday I was home sick (epic headache) and had to go out to help my boyfriend collect eggs (he couldn't figure out my broody "system").

I get out there and my broody barred rock (who is a nasty piece of work when she's not broody nevermind now) has a "friend" in her nest with her, an oblivious RIR trying to lay an egg.

I try and take her out of the barred rocks nest box and put her in one thats empty. I do this 3 times. She goes back each time to the barred rock's nest.

It was pretty hilarious, but much more so thanks to hydrocodone

Now if only I could kick this headache. I'm going to attempt to go to work today, I can't see spending another day at home after I've just now spent almost 100% of the last 48 hours in bed.

And don't feel any better.

Do you think it's the weather? I had a horrible migraine all day yesterday. It's subsided a bit today...for now. Hope you feel better soon. The weather isn't leaving until Thursday or Friday.

Have met some wonderfully nice people from here, though, a few of whom I think of as part of my little inner circle of friends now. Pretty neat people on BYC.

ETA: Back on subject here (grin), my American game/EE cross hen went broody again ... gave her 5 eggs yesterday, some of which are hers, some of which came from other girls in the henhouse. Rico's been a good/busy rooster, so I know the eggs are fertile. So let's see... 16 assorted bantam eggs in the incubator on day #15, 6 eggs under a broody (she laid one more), and a dozen eggs on order from Lund... hmmm, and here I thought I was done hatching for the year. How did THAT happen?

There are 3 splash Cochins, 1 Welsummer and 1 black Ameraucana. The Wellie keeps switching nests so I pulled hers and put them in the incubator. I'll try to give em back to her when they hatch but for now she's keeping a golf ball warm. I'm suprised really, she raised 9 babies last year without any problems at all.

I need to apologize---both ChickenAlgae and I are sick, and we TOTALLY messed up the Week 1 Contest. Algae is worse then I, so I sent her back to bed.
