Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

Checked on my broody slw hen, started with 10 eggs, she kicked 2 out the first week, now only has 4!! Don't know how she "disposed" of them but they are no where to be seen, shells and everything, gone! Well, she is due today/tomorrow so I hope the 4 she has are going to hatch.

Broody Muscovy is sitting pretty on her nest. I have found shell parts two different times in her pen but haven't wanted a bruising so haven't checked to see how many she has left! Maybe she'll get off it we get some warmer weather, she's not due until June 8. Why do Muscovies have to take soooooooooooooooo long?!
59 eggs in the incubator due June 9/10. I'm not candling, I'm not candling, I'm not candling..............

Cute pics and "OMG" pics everyone!!

My broody Fav hen started with 13 eggs, and she she slowly "lost" eggs too (I know she broke a couple under her, and squished a chick under her the first day) but she ended up hatching 4 babies that lived. It was weird when she first took them out, I cleaned out the nest box, and there were 2 eggs that REEKED that had fully formed chicks in them, and the ENTIRE shell was gone, like momma was trying to hatch them from the outside or something, and the chick was just enveloped in the inner AND outer membranes...

Here's a couple of pics of my cute new Ameraucana chicks, I think they are the cutest things with their big puffy cheeks! One pics is of a couple of blues, the other shows the biggest (a blue) and the littlest. The little black is the one I thought was a dud! It is so little, I am calling her Pip, short for Pip-squeak.

I am officially DONE with broodies. All 5 that were broody left the nest - ALL FIVE!!!!! Now they are getting kicked off twice a day. And my mini hatch. 0%. So no more hatching until Ken finds a job that can finance my need to breed more chickens. UGH!

This is one of those fascinating images that makes you keep looking at it to try and figure out "What in the World?!"
My guess is showgirl (because of black skin) crossed with a laced/penciled feather-legged.

Locked down 27 LF Faverolles, 8 bantam Faverolles and 1 bantam black Ameraucana last night. I was a day late locking them down because I wasn't feeling well the day before. Well, when I opened the bator to do a final candling and move them to the hatcher, there was a fluffy little chick staring at me! LOL The Ameraucana was already pipped, and hatched this morning. Still waiting on the others.
