Large Air Cell

If you make a hole in the end of one I suggest doing it outside. I had one pop on me and the smell was really bad and it sounded really loud. You can also tap on the egg and listen for taps back or smell the egg. If it were me I would wait another day.

I'm on Day 22 now, and if I was to go through with that method I was definitely planning on doing it outside! lol

And fyi, the water test only works to prove that one is alive, IF it moves independently in the water. It can still be alive and not move. It can still be alive and float or sink, but it could also be dead. Nothing about a water test can prove that it is dead. Water testing is useless in my opinion.

I'd still give her a couple more days. I have a hen currently hatching also. She's up to 4 of 9 hatched, over the past couple of days. Its so hot and humid here, she spends some time off the eggs. But she is experienced and a great momma bird, so I let her do her thing.

I've been through lots of broodies. Not as many as some folks, but I think I currently have #26 and #27 sitting, just since this past March!

All of these eggs are still alive

I have a couple shipped barred holland eggs that have large air cells. There is movement currently in day 9 so I'm hoping these guys make it.

looks ok for day 9 to me. You could increase humidity a couple of points and slow them down just a bit, if you feel like they get too big.

I hope they are ok. I was just comparing to the rest of the eggs. They are under a broody BLRW who gets mad when I look in the window at her!

oh well, she'll take care of it then :D
gotta love those bitchy broodies! I have every extreme on broodies from the really easy ones that stand up to show me the eggs or chicks, to the ones that might keep a finger or two if i get too close.
