Large Fowl Cochin Thread

Hello all! I an new to raising LF Cochins and I have a few Splash Cochin chicks that are five weeks old..

Can anyone give me advice on Cochin sexing? I think I have a pretty good idea of who is what but I would love some opinions from people who regularly raise Cochins!

Thank you!
Amanda
If you will go back and read some of the previous posts to this thread you will find your answer.

If you can post pics, it will be easier for all to give their opinions on sex.

Hi everyone, I saw this thread and thought I'd join in. I have LF Cochins and I absolutely love them. They are some of my favorites here on the farm. Here is a photo of one of my roosters and his girls. I've enjoyed seeing everyone's birds.

blondie34, the entire thread is well worth the reading, as Bo suggests. To answer your question the females will generally feather out quicker than the boys

but that is only indicative, not fool-proof and, to quote a wise sage, if you wait long enough the chickens will tell you

For anyone who's interested in the thread compilation I am putting together, I'm up to page 50

Cochins are doing FANTASTIC at the shows this Spring! But for those of you that can't get to one of your local shows, the Cochins International Spring Online Show is almost here!! Entries will be accepted between May 1st and May 7th - same format and rules as the Winter Show. I very happy to announce that our guest Judge will be Bill Post of NY. Many of you will know him from the ShowBirdBid and BYC forums, where he is always on hand to offer fair critiques and sound advice as NYREDS.

If I mail in my membership form today will I be able to enter the online show? Or is there a way to do the membership online?

We have partridge cochens from your farm. We wonder if you have any blue pullets or younger full size cochens for sale. Would love to visit your farm to personally pick up the chickens.
