Large Fowl Cochin Thread

I don't get to post a lot of pictures here because I have never really had my flock put together, just single hens and roos. But I got really lucky this year and a lady sold her small flock of BBS to me last month. So I finally get to work on my Cochins. I am so excited! They are not split up into breeding pens yet and my two adult roos aren't in these pics but I just wanted to share anyway. So hopefully I will be having some white, BBS and Lemon Blue babies in the next year. Need a Gold Laced roo though. I have 3 tiny chicks so maybe one of them is a roo. I thought I was lucky with getting all pullets this past spring just to lose my roo this summer. Sometimes I wonder if someone is telling me to NOT work on this color! Don't mind Gertie my LCO she is my baby and stays home with the Cochins! Too many chances of predators where all the other birds are!
Is one of your boys a Lemon Blue project from Lynne? I have some of her blood as well and am working on this project as well. I got a new roo from her this year as well.-

I have a new roo from Lynn this year too. They could almost be twins. But my guy, 'Shiver', might be coming up with a not-so-pretty tail. I'm hoping its just a stage.

Quote: Yes I got a trio from Lynne- a Lemon Blue cockerel, Lemon blue pullet and a splash pullet. I am excited to finally get some Cochins from her I have been drooling over them for the last two years and finally was able to get some this summer/fall. I want to see if I can follow through with this color. The BBS are my true my priority but this color is more of a fun color for me . I just loved her original roo that seems more yellow -I know it is not the true Lemon Blue but I liked it.

Here's one of my Golden Laced pairs (the pullet was hatched from eggs I got from Clare Mikel)

And this is one of my Black pullets hatched from Star Cochin eggs.

The Lemon Blue is my passion and I can't wait to really get this project going. I have some chicks I kept from this year and can't wait to hatch from Louie, my new guy from Lynne.

Mike, I've been having a sneaking suspicion I might hear my brown red 'girl' crow any minute. I though she was looking like a he myself. I didn't see it in the splash though. So you think the splash is a boy, too, huh? Hmmm. I have one really beautiful black hen and one mediocre blue hen. She's pretty to me but has kind of a pointy tail. Genetically I don't want her tail in there. Looks like I'm on the lookout for some pretty girls to the pen.
