Her bird may have a reproductive issue like an infection.
Oh yikes. How is she supposed to know which one to medicate? I think I’ll stop buying eggs from her. I don’t want antibiotic chicken eggs!

Most people throw out the egg while treating their birds so I wouldn't worry about that.
It might be impossible to tell which hen, it's not advisable to treat them all so hopefully, it might just be a one time thing.

So she just keeps selling these eggs and we hope they aren’t gross/ from a sick bird when we buy them? Do these infections just go away untreated? Honestly, that sounds no bueno for the consumer.

Have you told her about it? I would think that is the first step.

Depending on how many eggs she sells, and how many she eats herself, she might not even know if one hen has recently started laying eggs like this.

Also, many weird eggs are a one-time thing, and then the hen goes back to laying normal eggs. I do not know whether this specific issue can be a one-time occurence or if it always indicates something that will continue.

I had a hen lay bloody eggs, and she was one of two that laid dark brown eggs. I had to keep their eggs for my family, since it was gross even for me to open those. I would feed them back to the chickens usually. That is one reason to have different color eggs, since it it s easier to identify who is laying.

Yep we told her, she said the shell probably had a crack and it’s mold. Could that be it?

It may be the first time that the infection has made itself known, cut her some slack. Hens Are very good at hiding illness, it's their nature.
They don't typically go away untreated.
It's no Bueno for the hen too, they are typically put down because by the time you see the infection, it's too late.

I suppose it could be possible.

But does she think she sold you a cracked, old egg? (I might not want to buy from her again if that is the case.)

Or does she think you handled it roughly enough to crack it, and then kept it long enough for mold to grow? (You probably know whether that was possible or not.)
