LARGE hornets nest-HELP!!!!PICS ADDED

I hope another opinion is O.K. Try to get rid of it without poison or killing the wasps by starting their nest on fire. We already have lost so many bees and now the amphibians. Everything we do has such an impact on our world.

I know this sounds crazy but at night you can quietly yet quickly slip a garbage bag over the nest and use a heavy pair of scissors or trimmers to cut the nest free. Take the bag to another location preferably by car. Get out of the car, walk about 10 feet and dump out the nest, drop the garbage bag and run like heck back to the car and close the door. It's a bit of excitement and I'm happy to report that no one was stung.

Go back the next day to retrieve your garbage bag.

thats what i was going to suggest, after dark, put the heavy duty garbage bag over it. if you put it in the freezer, you can put them to sleep(suspended animation) then do what you want with it safetly.

If it is a really nice one (and really big) you should consider moving it a night, and saving it until winter comes around and then keeping it for display. If you are into that sort of thing. They can look really cool displayed in the right setting.
