The middle is the male, the left is the femaleYeah, I can see the resemblance with that one of mine. Just going to have to wait for adult plumage to come in to identify properly. Thanks Jacin!

Yes, you can show unrecognized breeds/varieties. Unrecognized varieties cannot get any higher than BV (best of variety) and unrecognized breeds cannot get any higher than BB (best of breed). I have seen a few hookbills at shows, and they are not recognized.@Amer and @RossAcres , you both show, lol.
If I have a bird that is (very obviously) not a recognized color or an actual mixed color, can I still show it in all other variety? What if it's not a recognized breed either? Can it still be shown? I know some classes won't be eligible for higher awards, but could I still show the bird to help with numbers?
What if I had a mixed color (I'm not sure if you can get mixed color with ducks?) Hookbill? When it comes to unrecognized breeds, color doesn't really matter because there is no standard to compare them to. I think the judges use similar breed standards to judge hookbills. What if I had a mixed color (I'm not sure if you can get mixed color with ducks?) Hookbill? I'm not showing yet, but I would like to at some point, but I will have mixed color flocks and I'm trying to figure our ahead of time what will work
Okay. I am fascinated with the hookbills, but since it wouldn't be a single color pen (unless that's all I end up with), I didn't want to show them if them being a mixed color would hurt efforts to recognize them. When it comes to unrecognized breeds, color doesn't really matter because there is no standard to compare them to. I'm trying to show them more to get people interested in them. One of my goals is to find a few people who are dedicated to getting them recognized and then attempting it.
I need to do a deep dive in my standard and on the APA website to figure out exactly what needs to be done. They may require that all of the birds be the same variety for admission.Okay.
