Ducks seemed smart enough to not go diving into the waterbowl last night.

Ducks seem okay. Still keeping an eye on them. Chickens already are showing signs that I'll likely be losing some this year. 4 Littles were brought in yesterday, 1 due to frozen feet, 2 because they were slowing down and 1 due to an injury she got. They'll be going to the basement today after work and then brought back outside this weekend when it's warmer.

Yeah. This year is going to be rough. I'm a bit more ready to cull extras to cut down on pen usage now because of how early it happened

Culled 4 birds today. 3 cockerels including one with Mareks (this is the 6th or 7th since the 1st case last year) and one pullet that never grew passed about 6 weeks. She should have been at least 4x the size she was.

We did lose 2 other birds though. Polly, my blind gal passed last night, and the buff bantam brahma. We have a cat hanging around that killed her and a chick a few nights ago to eat. Going to try and catch him and probably try to take him in since I probably won't be allowed to keep him

We also lost my male coturnix a couple weeks ago. We think it was old age since he was like 3 or 4. My female is alone now, but she seems pretty content with the chickens (seperated in a cage, but in the cockerel pen). She occasionally gets a chick visitor if one needs to be penned for some reason for a day. She probably won't last too much longer, since she's from the same hatch as the male, so she's older too.
