Larkwell Valley (2023)

Lost Lady today, my old Calico Princess. Neighbor's dog came in and did what dogs do. She was the only loss so far, everyone else is counted for. Tina, my polish bantam rooster was plucked pretty bad, but no bite marks i could find, and is isolated now so he can get back to full awareness.

I'm sad about Lady, and so is Cheese (they were nest buddies at night), but I knew that she would be the first to go to any predator that went into the barn since she was so old and slow.

I'm hoping Princess (Miss Kitty) is safe, I haven't seen her since the dog, but she knows how to climb out of the way and we didn't see any fur anywhere
Princess is perfectly fine. Found her an hour or so ago investigating a giant bullsnake by our porch and then yowling with Willow through the screen door a few seconds later

Tina is out of the woods, and honestly I think he's kinda liking just having a pen to himself. Still flighty as all get out, but he's calm other than when I'm in the pen with him.

@Pyxis, I have a genetics question for you.
I have a duckling that hatched from what I'm 99.99% sure is a Rouen egg, but it's all yellow. Would my Buff drake be the likely father? The other drakes that have access to her are:
Silver Appleyard
Golden 300
Rouen
Penciled call
Pastel call

The only one thar was also yellowish as a duckling was the Buff

Can you post a picture of the duckling?

It could possibly be white - white is recessive, so if both parents carry a copy, and the duckling happened to inherit both, surprise white duckling, haha.

My two Pastel ducklings I bought from Metzer Farms were both bright yellow with a little bit of shading on their heads. I have two I hatched out of my pen and thought they were theirs but they turned out to be more gray at this stage with tan bellies like my Pastel so one of my parents are Pastel and the other one is more than likely a Mallard type Call that I have. Good luck figuring out who yours belong to. I am putting mine on Jerry Spring to find out whose the Daddy and Mommie!!! LOL

No shading at all on this one.

Yeah, I'll see if mama will stay calm enough to let me get one tonight when I put everyone up. I don't see any shading, and the little feet are bright orange. If I didn't know better, I'd think it's a little Pekin, but I know it wasn't her egg
