sorry that it didn’t go well. We are prepared for the worse. It is what it is. We can only do all that we can. I gave her an antibiotic and baby asprin this morning. She also just had calcium. I have been giving her little trips outside with her friends to lift her spirits.
Thats what i did too! Is she sleepy? I also recomend giving her plain yogurt and cottage cheese, maybe try bannana too? Thats what I did.
Oh! Banana. Good idea. It’s a hit or miss in my flock. They all love fruit but hate veggies. She’s been eating plain Greek yogurt mostly except today she’s been grazing it. She went crazy over cherries I smashed up. And crumbled unsalted peanuts she got ahold of while I was feeding the others. Don’t know if that’s good or bad but it’s protein and fat. She goes through bouts of sleepiness and spurts of activity just like us when we are sick. Sometimes she lays to sleep, perches or stands. Time will tell. She was trying to dust bath earlier which was nice to see. I hope she makes it. Just got to makes sure she eats and at this point I’ll take whatever.
Aww. Ya the heavy breath is sad. When the purple tips on the comb and wattles set in and start becoming cold…. They know and you know. Time to say your goodbyes. Happened to a NHR probably 15 minutes before we were going to euthanize
this one bounces back.The one with her standing is from Sunday when I started trying to figure all this out. The other two are her today: pecking in the dirt doing a light dust bath and hanging with some buddies on a short outing for fresh air and flock company.
Aw, she is adorable, I hope she pulls through. If she gets out of this, get vitamins to put in there water and make sure to supply her lots of calcium and try and chip her egging production if you dont mind her not making eggs. Dirt bathing is a good sign! Any more weird poops? Or have they improved??
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
