I really enjoyed reading your lovely story. It sounds like you're so insightful and love caring for your birds, you should get a few more chicks. You can have them all integrated in a matter weeks (no need to wait months until they're grown) if done with a little preparation. I added 3 chicks to my single (somewhat mean) Easter Egger hen over a year ago and she took to them very well. But what's even better, is she hasn't even been mean anymore. Everyone respects her lead position and now she's my sweetest bird.
