I will be putting 15 LF cochins in my incubator tomorrow. I know I am crazy cause they will be living with me most of the winter... Will need to get a bigger brooder

Baby chicks are so cute!!

Okay, now I think I must be nuts compared to yall who know when to stop LOL. I have 120 eggs in the bator due to hatch 10/10 and 10/20. I love fall hatches since the chicks start laying in the spring instead of the summer/fall We live in CA. so winter brooding is not too brutal.

Hatching chickens can go on for eternity all year,,peafowl only lays eggs for a few months and do not grow like weeds,,much diffrent scenerio here. You guys are in the wrong thread .

How old are they? i have had 3 week old guinea eggs hatch here. you could float test them at least you might eliminate and explosion if any are bad.
Good luck little broodies

Some are quite old, some are only a few days old, but were laid after my boys lost their trains and a few were laid while they were still breeding. The three hens aren't doing anything else, so what can it hurt to let them sit?

I hadn't thought about doing a float test, that's a great idea, thanks!

If just one of the 18 hatches I'll be thrilled, but we'll see...
