Last night's windstorm, is everybody ok?

We did not had a tornado warning here yesterday, but in case of any severe event, we would just safe ourselves and don't care about any animals. Sorry duckies! But humon life has priority. - I always write this on those »There is a hurricane coming and i live in the evacuation zone…« threads. When mother nature is angry, just move out of her way. If you can take your animals with you, fine. But don't put your life in danger!!!

That makes sense, but I don't know how I'd react. To be fair, I don't have a plan for me either. I have a tornado phobia, even though I know they aren't that common.
There was a tornado watch in my area earlier this year while I was at the store, which always feels safer to me than being at home. I still raced home because I can't handle the thought of all my animals being alone with no one to help them. That was probably dumb.

I have multiple dog crates all sizes and I swear if we have fire or any other type of disaster all my 36 birds will be shoved inside loaded onto the truck an car and go with us. Then we have 4 dogs too. We also have a river down below us and I try in my mind to figure out how I’d get everyone across to the other side if fire was on our side. Hopefully none of these ideas will ever have to be used. I do have 2 large plastic totes with everyday essential for us if we had to camp out away from home for a while.

@WannaBeHillBilly surprisingly, just a couple hours north of you, we didn’t get nearly the storm you got. It rained and was windy, but nothing horrible. My SIL lives closer to you and got quite a bit of snow the other day, we got nothing. It’s usually the other way around. Hope you got everything secured/repaired. Thanks for thinking of me!

Im 2017 i had a project close to Oklahoma City and the team stayed in a nice new hotel in Moore. Somebody mentioned that he likes the fact that everything is so new here - the manager on duty responded with "yes, that's one of the advantages when you have to rebuild every 3-5 years…"
For the folks unfamiliar with tornados: Moore, Oklahoma is nick-named the tornado-capital of the world. This unenviable city is hit by at least one severe tornado every year and is devastated every few years. We were all following the weather reports very closely during our engagement…
So yes, Tornadoes are as scary as Earthquakes to me too! And sometimes we do dumb and dangerous things for our animals.

I felt so bad for your duckies, they looked horrified when the wind was gusting. That was crazy! Glad you all are OK. Phew! :thumbsup
Thank you very much! The worst thing for them is when the branches of that spruce tree are scratching over the metal roof. I thought it may be a good idea to remove some of them, but on the other hand those provide shade during the warm season…

Hey, that's West Virginia! - My wife was on that flea-market in Elkview and texted me that the sun was shining unbearable hot and here, just a couple of miles away there was no sunshine at all! Glad you're all OK!
