yes, very true. i am just seeing a lot of old english type large birds that have no serama qualities at all being posted. he is so funny, so afraid to let any of them go, i go over there and try to get him to cull some but he just cant!! LOL poor guy

I hatched 8 chicks from the hen I bought from your Father and just put two more eggs in the incubator the other day. I can't wait to see what colors they will turn out to be. I'll be eating the eggs for the rest of the Winter. I have 14 Silkie eggs and two Serama eggs due to hatch Thanksgiving day

and that will be it untill spring. I finished insulating the small coop

4x8 feet and put a strong red heat lamp in it and placed my 4 bigger chicks out in it today. It's toasty warm in there. I'm so glad I have a place to put the chicks when their to big and stinky for the house.

I agree, I've been thinking of raising a little Roo for a house pet. They are so pretty and I wouldn't have to have to set my alarm clock

Yep, works great if you need to get up at 3 AM

That's what time Sarah's two little Seramas woke us up this morning. Not sure what got into them but they thought it was time to get up...

Oh yes I can. Serama eggs are the closest I get to eating caviar

I don't like those little fish eggs. Plus I don't have the time for all that packing and shipping eggs. But if someone local is interested in Serama eggs let me know

Wouldn't it still be to cold to put a 10 or 12 week old chick all feathered out, out in the barn in the winter after it's raised in a warm house? I would think it would be to much of a shock not being able to get used to the cold gradually

Ya, that dust is a pain in the butt! Is it from the shavings or the birds themselves anyway!! I just put some in the shed we insulated and am thinking it needs some heat source...does the lamp really warm it up enough? How many watts is the bulb and is it the red ones??? I am afraid it will be too cold for the seramas and the modern games..the breeder told me their combs can get frostbitten and I have one that is dubbed and others that need dubbing...anyone know a dubber???

Yes, Great idea, those work great for them

Our problem is no extra buildings. We are in a double wide on a slab and the horses have the barn.. Next year her new building is going up, this year it rained too much and wasn't able to do the ground work. The chickens, call ducks all have little off the ground huts everywhere and the Pigeons have a Mini bus. The favs, and large birds have chain link dog kennels with houses and all closed in with wood plastic, will be so good to get them all in one general area for sure.
