Yeah he is out and snug under his mum, BUT..... when I looked at him I noticed that he isn't walking, his mum hasn't taken him out yet though so maybe he just hasn't learned how???
Last time we had chicks they could just walk and there were no problems. Any ideas??
throw the rotten one away and pip the other one and see.you can make an air hole in the big end , air sac, just large enough for air to get in and possibly hear something. just a tiny hole.
No I candled both just to be sure and they are both rotten. I threw them out and the two broodies are sitting on air. I don't want to give them more eggs but I probably will. The hen that did most of the work before is very skinny but the other hen looks up for another go. They both seem very determined!!
I am going to try another hen's eggs and hopefully these ones will work!!
Thanks. The hens seem to be giving up and I'm glad, I hope they all wait till a little later in the season to try again!
My last late hatch turned out great, here are some pics....
