late hatchers come hatch along with us setting nov 12 to nov 20

My first Serama chick was a single. I spent almost 24/7 with her. Now she is a little love and she will run towards my hand to be held.
I plan to do the same with "her".

I had a rooster as a kid that I raised that way. It works great.

Class hatch along update:

We haven't had any hatch, or even pip yet, but I have been hearing some peeping! They didn't get started in the incubator until around 2:00pm so I suspect that they will begin in the next few hours. They will probably all hatch at night and my kiddos won't get to see. I think the kids have asked if they have hatched about a million times today.

Lesson learned. Get the eggs in the turner on Monday, start the incubator on Tuesday morning then they should hatch all day through classes on Tuesday. Whew! There is a lot to learn about chickens.

Class hatch update:

We had 1 hatch this morning and another is unzipping, but none of the others has even pipped. I'm worried. Nearly all of the 34 looked really good when we candled them just before lock down. Yesterday afternoon was day 21 so maybe they just want a few more hours in their cozy shells? The one that hatched is peeping loudly so I hope the others come out to join her soon.

Usually when they hatch after day 21 they either had a cool down period or your temp was a little low. Give them some time.

My eggs hatched yesterday. I had 33 go into lockdown and 31 hatched. They are so cute and so many different colors. I started with 54 eggs but some of them where from hens that were not with a rooster (not sure how many). And they were also refrigerated. So I think they did really good. I will try and post pictures later.
