Late maturing cockerels or pullets? Delaware and New Hampshire (I think)

Hello! I have two chicks I’m not sure if they are pullets or late maturing cockerels... Six weeks old, have less wattle and red than their cockerel friends. The Delaware also is more lightly spotted than having “patches” of black. See pictures 😊 thanks for looking!

Looks like a RIR/production red pullet, and definitely a lot of pattern on the Delaware, which makes me think cockerel. Is there any chance the Delware chick had a barred mother? That could explain the partial coloring just on the back. Keep us posted- he/she is a 'wait and see' for sure!

I got the Delaware as part of a “heavy assortment” from McMurray hatchery so I’m not sure if the breeds could get crossed or not (maybe a sneaky rooster)! I took a picture comparing it to one that looks for sure like a cockerel. Maybe it will just have a lighter color roo pattern.

I’m pretty convinced the red one is pullet too! I thought it was a New Hampshire but it does seem To be getting more reddish :)

Am afraid you might have two cockerels but your place is beautiful!! Love the roses!! I think you have room for many more!

Keep an eye on the red one ---- hope I'm wrong about them and that "they" are a pullet!!

thank you! 😊

It’s honestly okay if they are cockerels - we bought them to raise as meat chickens and to pick a rooster for our flock. Just thought it would be fun if a couple were pullets in the bunch!
