Late to hatch Duck eggs...

My chicken eggs are at day 17 and the embryos are still small wat do I do

How small? Are you sure they are still alive? Day 17, the egg should be almost entirely dark. Little clear-ish area next to the air cell, and a little maybe in the pointed end.

Sorry I'm not sure I can offer any advice as I only hatch ducklings. This question might be better suited for the chicken forum, though maybe someone here can help.

Basic principle is still about the same, only they take 3/4 as long as ducks :D

How hard is it to hatch ducklings?

Not that difficult. Have you hatched chickens?

Nope. Getting chicks and ducklings for first time by Thursday and couple weeks.(times and animals respectively)..but figured I'd ask cuz maybe by next yrs we will have some of our own

Since I've been haunting these threads the past few days, thought I would post about my khaki campbell duckling experience. By day 28, there was nothing going on with my eggs, even though when I candled them at lockdown, they all looked great. I spent the better part of days 27, 28 and 29 watching my duck eggs in the incubator! Then in the morning of Day 29, I could see a couple of the eggs had externally pipped. By that night I had one lone little duckling and was worried no more would hatch. On the morning of the 30th day, three more were in the incubator. So, four so far, and possibly more. I'm telling this story to tell others NOT to give up if your ducklings haven't hatched by day 28. I'm not sure if my temps were a little low, or what the problem was, but it can definitely take longer than 28 days. I read everything on the Internet about duck hatching while waiting on mine--I really didn't realize that so many people "help" their ducklings out of their shell. I don't feel qualified to do that yet, so probably any eggs that have not hatched by day 31 will be discarded.
