Latest and greatest heat plates - what are you currently using

I currently have 2 brinsea 20 chick heat plates and they work very well.

I also have 2 comfort chick heating plates (50 chick and a 20 chick).
These too, work very well and I would recommend both brands.

I have a 15 Watt Comfort Heat Plate which is probably only available in my country and neighbouring countries, but I just wanted to say it's a usefull feature when you can move all the legs seperately. Our heat plate is positioned with a bit of an angle so one side is lower than the other. Our smallest chickens sleeps in the middle towards the back and the bigger ones sleeps under the higher side.

I just purchased the one from Premiere (Comfort), the one for 20 chicks. I like the look of the unit. Still worried about how to know how high it should be to start. I am only getting 6 chicks this tomorrow, unless I go back & get two extras at the feed store I ordered them from on Monday! Was going to integrate 6 with my 13 2 year olds & then sell some in the fall, but am now leaning toward selling all the old ones & just going with what I ordered or 8 if I can score two more. I am excited to see how the plate works. Really tired of using the heat lamp after 26 years!

I have the Premiere 1 50 heat plate without the top. I place a feeder and waterer on top along with a ramp, even though they don’t use the ramp very long.

I usually will use a strip of paper towel along the top for a couple of weeks until they’re old enough to start picking at it, then I just scrape the poop off. It isn’t that difficult to clean when you’re through with it.

I used my Premiere outside this past January when temps got down into the teens several times. It worked beautifully. I did purchase the separate controller, which allows you to adjust the temp of the plate depending on its location. Inside my house and as they grow, I dial it down a bit so it isn’t quite as warm.

I am super happy with the MHP method. I’ve used it for ducklings, geese, and guineas so far, and just set up another for my line surviving incubator keet and some chick buddies. As a bonus, it uses next to no electricity (I plugged it into a meter to see)

Has anyone here ever tried the chick heating plate Tractor Supply sells? They are on clearance right now, and I'm wondering if it would be worth trying.

Usually I do the MHP. I haven't heard of PBH before. I'll check out those links. Edit: oops! I do remember this now. Just didn't recognize it by its acronym. I have actually copied after @aart 's design.

The ones I saw there are really small, maybe 8x12".
That is true. I knew there was a reason besides price that I have passed them up before.

I do like the size of the king size Sunbeam heat pad. I just looked up the last two times I ordered those on Amazon, and every year they seem to drop a few bucks. Only $15 right now. I paid $20 three years ago and $17 two years ago. Both of those MHPs are still going strong.
